So is it really worth a medium sized business with let's say 10 outlets in Dunfermline, Perth and so on, employing someone - at £40k or so a year - to promote them through social media? We get a brilliant ROI from search engine positioning for local companies, because we can connect with consumers when they're actually looking for what they need to buy, but social media? I've yet to meet any local business whose ad budget is better spent on social marketing type stuff and not on customer acquisition? I find it difficult to think I'll ever get over that. Either it returns a positive ROI or it doesn't.
